Children's recycling workshops held in Nicosia for World Zero Waste Day
In the capital of Northern Cyprus, Nicosia, an environmental action for children titled "New Life Workshops" (Yeniden Yaşam Atölyeleri) was held on the occasion of World Zero Waste Day (March 30).
The event took place at Sarayönü Square and was organized in cooperation with the TRNC Ministry of Education, the Education Counselor of the Turkish Embassy in Nicosia, the Department of Environmental Protection, the Maarif Foundation, the Cyprus Science and Intelligence Foundation, and the Yunus Emre Institute.
As part of the program, children participated in creative workshops where they recycled waste and turned it into souvenirs, keychains, and decorative items. The goal of the event is to foster environmental awareness and a culture of waste reduction among the younger generation.
The action was attended by TRNC Deputy Prime Minister Fikri Ataoğlu, as well as the Turkish Ambassador to Nicosia, Ali Murat Başçeri.
The organizers emphasized the importance of responsible consumption and proper waste management to ensure a sustainable future for the next generations.
