The Folk Dance Festival to Take Place in Nicosia
The 14th International Folk Dance Festival in Nicosia will start on August 27. Dance groups from six countries will participate in the event.
The festival is organized under the auspices of five non-governmental organizations working in the field of culture and arts in Nicosia, the Turkish Municipality of Nicosia (LTB), and with the participation of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment.
The festival will kick off in the evening on Tuesday, August 27, with an event on Dernekler Street. Further events will take place from August 28 to September 1 in Kızılbaş Park.
It is expected that dance groups from Bulgaria, Italy (Sicily), Macedonia, Mexico, Romania, and Turkey, as well as groups from the Union of Youth Centers and other public organizations, will perform during the festival.
The festival will conclude on World Peace Day, September 1.
Note that the tradition of holding the festival was suspended in 2019: first due to the coronavirus pandemic, and then after the earthquake on February 6, 2023, in Turkey.
