The Republic of Cyprus will hold large-scale Europe Day events on May 9 across four cities on the island. Central events will take place in Nicosia, Larnaca, Limassol, and Platres, with the celebration culminating in a performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony by the Athens Philharmonic Orchestra. The concert will be broadcast via the European Broadcasting Union network and is expected to attract an audience of over one billion viewers worldwide.

The festive program began on May 8 with a diplomatic reception at the House of Europe in Nicosia. Speakers at the event will include representatives of the Cypriot government and European institutions, including Deputy Minister for European Affairs Marilena Raouna and European Commissioner Costas Kadis. The musical portion will be prepared by students of the "European Parliament Ambassador School" program.

On Saturday morning, a European Union flag-raising ceremony was held at Eleftheria Square in Nicosia. It was attended by Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides, Nicosia Mayor Charalambos Prountzos, and the Head of the European Parliament Liaison Office in Cyprus, Thea Pieridou.

The main public events will be held in Larnaca, which recently received the status of European Capital of Culture 2030. Stands for European programs, embassies, and public organizations will be set up on the Phinikoudes promenade. A parade by a children's orchestra, a photo exhibition, choir performances, and a musical program with Mediterranean motifs will be prepared for guests.

In Limassol, the For You(th) youth festival will take place, focusing on education, entrepreneurship, and mental health. Workshops, discussions, and presentations of social initiatives will be organized at the TEPAK venue.

Europe Day will conclude with a concert in the Platres forest, where the Athens Philharmonic Orchestra will perform Beethoven's Ninth Symphony — a piece that has become the anthem of the European Union. The event will be held under the auspices of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU.
