Cyprus continues to strengthen its position in digital technologies and telecommunications. According to new statistical data from the Office of the Commissioner for Electronic Communications and Postal Regulation (ΓΕΡΗΕΤ), by the end of 2025, the country saw a significant increase in the number of high-speed internet and mobile service users.

The number of fixed broadband connections increased by 2.7% to reach 372,774. At the same time, nearly 90% of subscribers already use speeds above 100 Mbps, and more than 13% enjoy connections exceeding 1 Gbps. The primary driver of this growth was the expansion of fiber-optic infrastructure: the share of fiber connections reached 72,8%, while outdated xDSL lines shrank to 9.5%.

Experts also note a rise in data consumption. On average, a single fixed line used 1.26 TB of traffic in the fourth quarter of 2025 — a 14.7% increase compared to the previous year. Compared to 2020, consumption volume has more than doubled.

The mobile market is also showing growth. Over the year, the number of mobile users increased by nearly 90,000. Meanwhile, the number of prepaid SIM cards declined, which is attributed to mandatory subscriber registration. Pay-monthly contract plans continue to gain popularity, and unlimited packages with data, calls, and SMS now account for about 61% of all connections.

The growth of mobile internet is particularly notable: mobile data traffic increased by 24%, reaching record levels. Overall, the combined use of fixed and mobile internet in Cyprus grew by 16% compared to 2024.

Experts note that the telecommunications market in Cyprus is gradually shifting toward a model where users actively combine fixed and mobile services to meet their growing digital needs.
