Church of Cyprus Donates Embassy Building in Nicosia to Greece
The Church of Cyprus has donated the building in central Nicosia that houses the Greek Embassy to the Hellenic Republic.
As announced by Archbishop Georgios, the donation concerns the private building located at 8–10 Lordou Vyronos. The announcement was made during a celebratory service at the Church of Panagia Faneromeni on the occasion of Greek Independence Day.
The event was attended by Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides and Greek Ambassador Konstantinos Kollias. According to the Archbishop, the decision to transfer the building is a gesture of historical recognition of the Greek people.
The Greek Ambassador thanked the Church of Cyprus for its support and emphasized that the building on Byron Avenue will continue to be used by the embassy for its intended purpose.
It is noted that the building is the middle one of three structures on a single plot belonging to the Faneromeni Church. It currently houses the embassy and the office of the Greek Ambassador.
