Large-scale police raids across Cyprus: eight people detained

The Cyprus Police reported the results of large-scale operations conducted last night across the country as part of measures to combat crime and strengthen public safety. Eight people were detained during the raids.
According to law enforcement authorities, the arrests are related to various offenses, including illegal possession of drugs, armed assault, and illegal possession of property.
As part of the operations, police officers checked 476 people — drivers and passengers. For control purposes, 388 vehicles were stopped.
Parallel checks were carried out on commercial and public premises. A total of 41 premises were inspected, resulting in four administrative reports for identified violations.
The police paid special attention to road safety. During the raids, 219 fines were issued for traffic violations. Of these, 81 cases involved speeding.
Additionally, police officers conducted 61 breathalyzer tests. Two drivers were found to be under the influence of alcohol. Two vehicles were also seized as part of the investigations.
The police emphasized that such operations will continue throughout the country to prevent crime, strengthen road control, and increase the level of public safety. Law enforcement agencies urged citizens to obey the law and cooperate with the police in maintaining order.
