Electric vehicle subsidy program continues in Cyprus: Reserve applicants begin receiving approvals
The implementation of the state program for the development of electric transport continues in the Republic of Cyprus. The Department of Road Transport of the Ministry of Transport has begun sending out preliminary approvals to reserve applicants under the fourth phase of the electric vehicle subsidy program.
This concerns category D5, where some of the initially approved participants failed to complete their vehicle purchase or submit the required documents within the stipulated deadlines. The first notifications were sent to applicants back on April 28, 2026.
According to the department, due to non-compliance with the program's terms, a number of preliminary approvals were canceled. Consequently, the process of replacing participants using the reserve list has begun.
At this stage, invitations are being sent to applicants ranked from 654 to 662 in the respective draw for category D5. They will receive an email notification specifying the timeframes within which they must place an order for an electric vehicle and submit the required documentation.
The Department of Road Transport reminded that deadlines for submitting documents vary depending on the subsidy category and warned that in the event of rejection or inaction by the new recipients, the process will continue, moving to the next candidates on the reserve list.
The electric vehicle subsidy program is part of the government's strategy to develop eco-friendly transport and reduce emissions. The authorities anticipate that these support measures will help accelerate the population's transition to electric transport and modernize the country's vehicle fleet.
