Half of workers in Cyprus earn less than €2,000 despite average salary of €2,605
Despite the average salary in Cyprus rising to €2,605 in 2025, the real income of the majority remains lower. The median salary was €1,968 — the level below which half of the workers earn. This was reported by Cyprus Mail, citing Cystat data.
By the end of the fourth quarter, the average gross salary reached €2,932, which is 4.4% more than a year earlier. Overall for 2025, the growth was 4.9%.
The gap between the average and median salary is due to the fact that the high incomes of a small group significantly influence the overall figure.
The average salary for men is €3,102, and for women, it is €2,718. At the same time, women's incomes are growing slightly faster.
According to the distribution, 42.8% of workers receive between €1,500 and €2,999. Among foreign employees, almost half earn less than €1,500, but in the segment with incomes above €6,000, their share is higher than that of Cyprus citizens.
