Court Issues Verdict in Paphos Easter Church Disturbance Case
The Paphos District Court has handed down its verdict in the case of a man who caused a disturbance at the Church of Saint Paraskevi in Geroskipou on Great Monday. The 41-year-old Greek Cypriot has been sentenced to six months in prison.
The court found the defendant guilty of disturbing public order and disrupting a religious service. The incident occurred on Great Monday, when the man, dressed in black and holding a candle, attacked the priest and worshippers during the Divine Liturgy. The man was arrested by police at the scene.
Further investigation revealed that the 41-year-old from Paphos was also in possession of a firecracker and a small quantity of drugs, which were confiscated by authorities.
