Customs seized meat, eggs, and dairy products at Deryneia checkpoint

Customs services of the Republic of Cyprus thwarted two attempts to illegally import livestock products through the Deryneia checkpoint. Meat, eggs, and dairy products transported in violation of the Green Line regulations were seized.
The incidents occurred on May 13, 2026, during routine checks aimed at enforcing customs regulations. In both cases, vehicles driven by foreign nationals were stopped for inspection, whereupon prohibited goods were identified.
In the first vehicle, officers found approximately 3 kg of chicken meat, 1.8 liters of dairy products, and 30 eggs. In the second case, 450 grams of fresh beef, 1.5 liters of dairy products, and 24 eggs were discovered.
All products were confiscated in accordance with current rules governing the movement of goods across the delimitation line.
Customs authorities remind that restrictions on the transport of livestock products are in place to protect public health and prevent the spread of animal diseases. Checks at checkpoints continue on a regular basis.
