At Cape Greco, three ships with migrants were detected
The authorities of the Republic of Cyprus were mobilized after the discovery of three ships in the maritime zone near Cape Greco, in the free province of Famagusta. A large number of illegal immigrants were on board the vessels.
According to law enforcement information, the first ship was spotted by the radar of the port and maritime police on Wednesday, around 15:00. Half an hour later, the boat was safely brought to the Ayia Napa harbor, where data on 19 passengers were recorded, who are already heading to the Pournara Temporary Accommodation Center in Kokkinotrimithia.
The second ship was observed not far from Cape Greco, and preliminary estimates suggest that there are more than 100 people on board. It is expected that the ship will be escorted to the Ayia Napa harbor by the port and maritime police to record passenger data, which will also be transferred to "Pournara."
The third ship is also in the maritime area of Cape Greco. Preliminary estimates suggest that up to 70 people may be on board.
It is worth noting that it was previously reported that the flow of illegal migrants to Cyprus was decreasing.
