Cyprus court hears case over illegal rally in state forest
Legal proceedings have begun in Limassol regarding a car rally held in a state forest without permission.
According to the prosecution, the race took place in March 2025 in the Listovounos area, despite the Department of Forests Cyprus refusing to issue the necessary permit.
The Republic of Cyprus has initiated a private criminal prosecution against three individuals who hold the positions of chairman, vice-chairman, and general secretary of the Cyprus Automobile Federation.
The defense argued in court that the charges are unfair and that responsibility should lie with the representatives of the Limassol Automobile Club, which, they claim, acted as the race organizer.
The court heard arguments from both sides and adjourned the hearing until April for further consideration of the case.
