Smart Meter Installations in Cyprus to Continue in April: List of Areas
The Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) is continuing its large-scale rollout of smart meters. In April, new smart meters will be installed in several areas across Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, and Paphos.
Here’s where the installations will take place:
- Nicosia – Strovolos
- Limassol – Mesa Geitonia and Agios Athanasios
- Larnaca – City center and 1st April Avenue
- Paralimni – Near Kokkinos supermarket
- Paphos – Around Pafiakos Stadium
The smart meter rollout in Cyprus began in late January in the Tripiotis area of Nicosia, as well as in Germasogeia and Agios Athanasios in Limassol, the Finikoudes area in Larnaca, and Kato Paphos.
In February, EAC expanded installations to Stasikratous, Digeni Akrita, and John Kennedy streets in Nicosia. In Limassol, the new meters were introduced in Germasogeia, Agios Athanasios, Enaerios, and Neapolis.
By 2028, around 500,000 smart meters are expected to be installed across the country as part of efforts to modernize the electricity grid and improve energy efficiency.
The project is fully funded by the European Union, meaning customers won’t have to pay for the installation or take any action.
The only thing required is a brief power outage—lasting no more than 20 minutes—while EAC technicians replace the old meters.
