The pathology department of Paphos General Hospital has temporarily suspended operations due to a technical malfunction in the body storage refrigeration chambers. The restrictions will be in effect from May 22 to June 3, 2026, or until the breakdown is fully resolved.

As reported by the organization, all necessary measures have been taken to ensure the safe storage of bodies already in the department and to maintain proper conditions. Authorities assured that the situation is under control.

During the suspension, a temporary procedure will be introduced for new cases. Relatives of the deceased will be asked to promptly arrange for the transportation of bodies to licensed funeral homes, which will ensure storage and preparation for burial.

In cases where families are unable to resolve this matter on their own within a short time, Paphos General Hospital will take responsibility for arranging the safe storage of bodies until further procedures are carried out.

It is also reported that autopsies will continue at the pathology department of Nicosia General Hospital, which serves as the reference center. There, it was also emphasized that transferring the procedures to Nicosia will not create any obstacles to public services or the issuance of the necessary documents.

The hospital administration stated that all предусмотренные procedures remain in force and specialists are working to restore the equipment as soon as possible.
