Car set on fire in Nicosia overnight: police investigate arson
An early-morning fire in Nicosia completely destroyed the car of a 35-year-old man. Police are considering the possibility of deliberate arson.
According to law enforcement authorities, the report of the fire was received at around 2:40 a.m. The car was parked on the street near the apartment building where the owner lives.
Police officers and fire service personnel arrived at the scene promptly. Firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze, but the vehicle sustained severe damage and was effectively completely burned out.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the fire was caused by deliberate actions. Investigators do not rule out that unknown individuals may have intentionally set the vehicle on fire.
From the morning, forensic experts and officers from the Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department have continued working at the scene. Police are examining possible CCTV footage and establishing the circumstances of the incident.
No injuries have been reported. The investigation is ongoing.
