Famagusta launches major campaign to save the tourist season
One of the largest tourism promotion campaigns in recent years has been launched in the Famagusta region, aimed at attracting foreign visitors and supporting the industry amid the fallout from the crisis in the Middle East.
As the Famagusta Tourism Development and Promotion Company (ETAP) said, the initiative’s main goal is to strengthen the region’s international image, increase tourist arrivals and extend the tourist season.
The campaign is being carried out for the third year in a row and brings together the efforts of tourism organizations, the municipalities of Ayia Napa and Paralimni-Deryneia, the Ministry of Tourism, Bank of Cyprus, and representatives of the hotel and tourism business.
According to ETAP, the current programme has become one of the largest digital campaigns ever carried out for the region. Promotion is focused on Cyprus’s key tourism markets — the United Kingdom, Poland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Sweden, as well as countries in the Middle East.
Modern digital marketing tools are being used for advertising: social media, search engines, travel platforms, video content and thematic online campaigns. Particular emphasis is placed on promoting Protaras, Ayia Napa and other resorts in the region as a year-round holiday destination.
The campaign’s organizers stress that the region is relying on its main strengths: award-winning beaches, modern tourism infrastructure, Cypriot hospitality, gastronomy, family holidays, cultural events and alternative forms of tourism.
ETAP notes that the current tourist season is taking place under difficult conditions due to geopolitical instability in the region, so strengthening international promotion is seen as an important step in supporting the economy and Famagusta’s tourism industry.
