TRNC leader Tufan Erhürman released a statement on social media amid discussions surrounding his stance on the Cyprus issue and the situation regarding the entry bans imposed by Turkey on several Turkish Cypriot intellectuals.

The politician emphasized that he intends neither to create false expectations for society nor to allow a mood of despair to spread. According to him, it is especially important for the TRNC today to focus on a constructive policy based on dialogue and diplomacy.

“I am not here to deepen the confrontation, but to facilitate the search for solutions,” Erhürman noted, adding that previous attempts to act through confrontation did not bring results to the Turkish Cypriot people.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to democratic principles and human rights, stressing that he accepts neither an indifferent “this doesn't concern me” approach nor pessimism regarding the future of society. Despite the existing frustration, Erhürman stated that he remains calm, patient, and determined.

He paid special attention to trust in Turkish Cypriot society, noting that the potential of the TRNC people remains a key factor in overcoming current challenges.

“I have always been close to our people and continue to listen to them,” he emphasized.

Erhürman's statement comes amid active discussions in the TRNC regarding the future political course, the Cyprus negotiation process, and the role of society in decision-making.
