Kyrenia: Esentepe Mayor celebrates April 23 in local schools
In Northern Cyprus, Esentepe Mayor Ceyhun Kırok participated in events marking April 23, 2026 — National Sovereignty and Children's Day, organized at Esentepe and Çatalköy schools.
Kırok emphasized that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk dedicated this significant day to children, carrying a profound message. According to the mayor, children are the future of society, the "architects of tomorrow," and the country's primary guarantee.
As part of the festive program, Kırok met with students, teachers, parents, and residents, attending ceremonies at Esentepe Primary School and Çatalköy Primary School. In his speech, he noted that April 23 is not just a holiday, but one of the strongest symbols of national will, independence, and freedom.
The mayor stated that Atatürk's trust in children remains a guiding light today: "the future is shaped in the hands of children." Addressing the students, he said: "You are our greatest hope, our most precious treasure, and the guarantee of our future."
It is reported that the local administration will continue to support projects aimed at children's development and will accompany them in all fields — from education and art to sports and cultural activities.
