Students from TRNC developed AI cap for the visually impaired and reached the world level

Middle school students from Northern Cyprus have achieved significant success in high technology by presenting an innovative project at an international championship. The Visionary Mind team took part in the Fibonacci EuroAsia Championship, held in Antalya from April 22 to 26, 2026. Representatives from 21 countries competed for the title of the best. Young developers Çağan Karay, Ruhi Çağan Gedik, and Eren Küçüközdemir presented the SenseAble project in the medical entrepreneurship category. They created a "smart" cap with artificial intelligence designed to help blind and visually impaired people. The device can recognize obstacles in the user's path and provide instant warning signals, significantly simplifying navigation in urban spaces. Following the championship, the team took an honorable third place in the Eurasian standings. This result secured the boys' right to represent the island at the world championship, which will be held in Rome. Technical support and academic guidance for the project were provided by Associate Professor Mustafa Kemal Ambar from the International Final University (Uluslararası Final Üniversitesi), who also sponsored the trip. This success highlights the potential of the region's youth in creating socially significant IT solutions.
