26 kg of Meat Confiscated and Two Establishments Fined During Night Inspections in Famagusta
The Municipality of Famagusta in Northern Cyprus has continued its inspections of food businesses under a protocol with the Chamber of Food Engineers. On Saturday, eight meat retail outlets were inspected, and on Friday evening, seven restaurants, bars, and taverns in the Mutluyaka, Tuzla, and Salamis Road areas were checked.
During the inspections of meat outlets, municipal police officers and food engineers reviewed permits, general sanitary conditions, storage conditions, and employees' health certificates. In one establishment, storage conditions were found to be non-compliant; 26 kilograms of minced meat and various meat products were seized and confiscated.
During the night raids on the Mutluyaka—Tuzla—Salamis Road route, police and municipal staff inspected seven catering establishments. One establishment was fined one minimum wage for lacking an operating permit, and another was fined one minimum wage for violating hygiene standards.
Municipal authorities stated that inspections will continue in cooperation with relevant bodies and that administrative measures will be consistently applied to violators. Businesses are advised to maintain a full set of permits and strictly adhere to sanitary regulations.
