TRNC reminded of 90-day period for decrees
In Northern Cyprus, decrees with the force of law are set to a 90-day validity period if they are not approved by the parliament.
According to current rules, after such a decision is made by the government, the document must be reviewed and approved by the TRNC Republican Assembly. If this does not happen within 90 days, the decree automatically loses its legal force.
This issue has once again come to the center of public discussion amid debates over government decisions related to the rising cost of living and wage regulations.
Lawyers and representatives of various organizations note that compliance with the 90-day deadline is an important mechanism of parliamentary control over executive decisions.
