Dead Cows Discovered Near Residential Areas in Cyprus
Amid a "red alert" due to a Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) outbreak in Cyprus, residents have reported a disturbing incident in the countryside.
Two dead cows were found abandoned in an open area along the Orounta – Agia Marina Xyliatou road, in close proximity to residential homes and commercial properties.
According to eyewitnesses, stray dogs have already begun scavenging the carcasses, sparking serious public health concerns.
Local residents claim this is not the first such occurrence in the area and that complaints have previously been filed with the police and veterinary services.
The incident is particularly alarming given the ongoing spread of FMD, which has recently expanded from Larnaca into the Nicosia district.
