Crime night in Cyprus: Attacks, explosion, and mass arrests

Cyprus police are investigating a series of incidents that occurred over the past 24 hours in various parts of the country, including a robbery attack, a car explosion, and a mass brawl outside a nightclub. All cases are under active investigation, and several people have been detained.

In Nicosia, unidentified individuals attacked a 32-year-old man in the city center around 20:00. According to police, two attackers beat him; one inflicted a stab wound to the forehead, while the other struck his arm with a stick. The perpetrators then stole the victim's wallet and fled.

In Liopetri, Famagusta district, around 3:00 AM, an explosion occurred in a car belonging to a 45-year-old man, parked outside his home. The blast seriously damaged the front of the vehicle; the scene was cordoned off, and the investigation began in the morning.

In Limassol, police detained five people following a mass brawl outside a nightclub in Ypsonas, where a conflict escalated into a clash involving about 20 people. As a result, five people were injured; one remains in the hospital under observation, while the others have been discharged. Arrest warrants have been issued for the participants, and the investigation continues.

In parallel, police conducted large-scale operations across the country aimed at crime prevention and maintaining public order. During the raids, 20 people were detained, and violations were identified, including fights, thefts, illegal stay, and driving under the influence.

Overnight, 488 vehicles and more than 650 people were checked, and dozens of traffic violation reports were issued, including 87 cases of speeding. Drivers under the influence of alcohol and drugs were also identified, and nine vehicles were seized. Police stated that intensive daily operations will continue.
