Strovolos implements 'smart' parking with online map of free spaces

The Municipality of Strovolos has begun installing intelligent parking systems as part of the Smart Cyprus project. Once completed, residents and visitors will be able to receive real-time information about available parking spaces via a dedicated mobile app.
According to municipal officials, the first phase of the project involves the installation of 1,500 sensors in parking areas. This stage is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
The system will display available parking spaces on an interactive map, as well as the exact location of parking for people with disabilities and charging stations for electric vehicles using GPS navigation.
Additionally, users will be able to check parking costs, pay for services via an e-wallet, and extend parking time remotely. The app will also send notifications when the paid parking time is about to expire.
The municipality notes that the implementation of the intelligent system should simplify the search for parking spaces, reduce waiting times, and make the use of city parking more convenient and modern.
