Landslides and hazardous conditions on roads in Cyprus

Due to adverse weather conditions, rockfalls and soil collapses were recorded on a number of roads in the mountainous areas of Troodos on Saturday afternoon. Police are urging drivers to exercise increased caution.
Landslides were noted on the following sections:
- Evrychou – Kakopetria – Karvounas
- Kakopetria – Pinewood – Pedoulas
- Pedoulas – Kykkos – Kambos – Orkonda
The region is experiencing dense fog, water accumulation, and slippery road surfaces, which significantly reduce visibility.
In addition, rockfalls have been recorded on the Nicosia – Larnaca motorway in the areas of Lymbia and Athienou – Kosia. Traffic on the motorway continues, however the situation remains potentially dangerous.
Police recommend:
- reducing speed
- keeping a safe distance
- turning on headlights
- strictly following road signs
Drivers are urged to be especially attentive on sections with standing water and limited visibility.
