Cyprus police conduct large-scale night raids: Three people detained

The Police of the Republic of Cyprus carried out large-scale preventive operations across the country as part of measures to prevent crime and strengthen public safety.

According to law enforcement agencies, patrols and checks were organized throughout the night in key areas of the cities. The main objective of the operations was the prevention of serious crimes, control of public order, and increasing the sense of security among citizens.

During the raids, police detained three people on suspicion of illegal drug possession and violation of migration laws.

Overnight, police officers stopped 638 vehicles for checks and checked 771 people. Concurrently, inspections of 57 establishments were conducted, resulting in 13 reports on violations.

As part of road checks, 340 traffic violations were recorded, and 17 investigations into individual cases were initiated. Additionally, the police impounded 15 vehicles.

The most common violation was speeding — 99 such cases were registered.

Furthermore, 314 driver breathalyzer tests for alcohol consumption were conducted, resulting in 29 reports. Another five drivers underwent drug testing, with three preliminary tests showing a positive result.

The police emphasized that such operations are carried out daily and will continue as part of the strategy to combat crime and ensure safety on the roads and in public places.
