Argument over land in Mesogi ends with shots fired at a house

A verbal dispute over a land disagreement between relatives nearly turned into a tragedy in the village of Mesogi (Paphos district). Police have arrested a 46-year-old man suspected of shooting at the house of his 49-year-old relative.
According to law enforcement, the men argued on Friday evening over a long-standing land conflict — first in a local club, in front of witnesses. Early in the morning, around 5:30, the suspect allegedly returned with a hunting rifle and fired at his relative’s house.
The victim reported hearing three shots. During the inspection of the scene, police found shotgun pellet fragments on telecom equipment located on the roof of the house.
The 46-year-old man was arrested and taken into custody. He is accused of illegal possession and use of a firearm in a residential area, intentional property damage, and threatening violence. The case is being investigated by the Paphos CID.
