Two suspects detained in Larnaca in case involving possession of materials for explosives
Police in Larnaca detained two men aged 32 and 38 as part of an investigation into the unlawful possession of items and materials that can be used to manufacture explosives. Both suspects are third-country nationals.
According to law enforcement authorities, the arrests were carried out on the basis of court warrants after the analysis and assessment of the information received. During the operation, police officers searched two residential houses in the Larnaca area used by the 32-year-old suspect.
During the searches, various pieces of evidence were found and seized, including items whose possession is prohibited by law and which, according to the investigation, may be used in the production of explosives.
Today, both detained men appeared before the Larnaca District Court. The court granted the police request and ordered their detention for eight days to allow the investigation to continue.
The case is being investigated by the Larnaca Crime Investigation Department. Law enforcement authorities are continuing to determine the origin of the seized materials and their possible intended use.
