Limassol police are investigating the abduction of a two-year-old child following a report by a 35-year-old British citizen, who stated that the child's father took the toddler by force and transported him to the northern part of Cyprus.

According to police, the incident occurred on the morning of May 13 at around 07:50 at the family's home in Limassol. As stated by the woman, a 29-year-old man, a TRNC citizen, entered the house with another person and took the child without the mother's consent.

Assistant Police Chief of Limassol, Lefteris Kyriacou, reported that the investigation established the man crossed the buffer line and took the child to the occupied territories. An arrest warrant for the suspect is expected to be issued shortly.

The investigation also revealed that an arrest warrant for the man already existed regarding a domestic violence case. The complaint had been previously filed by the same 35-year-old woman in 2025 after moving to the territory controlled by the Republic of Cyprus.

Police are studying the circumstances of the suspect's crossing through checkpoints and are also checking a video recording published by the man on social media. In the footage, he is seen in a car with the child.

Law enforcement authorities are continuing the investigation and coordinating actions to determine the child's location and further steps in the case.
