Man and woman arrested in Paphos over murder plot case

The Cyprus Police have arrested two people as part of an investigation into a serious criminal case involving suspected conspiracy to commit a felony, murder plot, and written death threats.

According to law enforcement authorities, a complaint regarding the case was received by the Paphos Crime Investigation Department (CID) on Saturday, May 16, 2026. Following an initial investigation, police obtained judicial arrest warrants for a 30-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman.

The man was arrested early in the morning by Paphos CID officers. He later appeared before the District Court, which granted the investigators' request and remanded him in custody for five days.

A few hours later, the 27-year-old woman was also arrested in Paphos. She remains in custody and is expected to appear in court for a remand hearing.

Police have not disclosed details of the alleged criminal plot or the identity of the potential victim, noting that the investigation is in its early stages. Investigators continue to gather statements and analyze evidence.

The Paphos Crime Investigation Department is conducting further investigations into the case.
