Larnaca authorities expect to avoid water cuts this summer

The Chairman of the Larnaca District Local Government Organization, Angelos Hadjicharalambous, stated that the city and the region are cautiously optimistic about the summer season passing without water cuts. According to him, this has been achieved through a series of water management measures and loss reduction.
Hadjicharalambous noted that authorities work daily to reduce wasteful water consumption and hope for the support of residents. He emphasized that citizens need to develop a "water culture," take more responsibility for resource use, and independently take measures to save water.
According to the head of the organization, this year may pass without serious restrictions, but the future situation remains uncertain. He warned that if high consumption continues in subsequent years, water cuts could become inevitable.
Special attention is being paid to the modernization of the water supply system. In June, the installation of 27,500 smart water meters will be completed in Larnaca. The new system will allow residents to promptly receive information about unusually high water consumption in homes and businesses through a digital platform.
It is expected that the implementation of modern technologies will help detect leaks faster and reduce the overall level of water consumption in the region.
