Greek contingent soldier in Cyprus hospitalized with meningitis

A soldier from the Greek contingent serving in Cyprus is in the intensive care unit of a hospital in Nicosia with a diagnosis of meningitis. The patient has been connected to a ventilator since Thursday.

This was announced by Ministry of Defence spokesperson Christos Pieris. According to him, the soldier's condition is assessed as stable.

Two other soldiers who were in contact with the sick man are also under medical observation. The authorities note that preventive measures were immediately taken for all close contacts.

According to the safety protocol, soldiers who came into contact with the patient are required to wear protective masks for three days. In addition, medical services continue to monitor the situation to prevent further spread of the infection.

The Ministry of Defence emphasized that all necessary response measures were activated immediately after the case was identified.
