Cyprus Police Intensify Night Raids: Two Arrested, Hundreds of Reports Filed

The Cyprus Police continue large-scale operations to maintain public order and combat crime. During night patrols in urban areas, two people were arrested on various charges, including an attack on a police officer.

According to the police public relations department, the operations were carried out as part of strengthened security measures aimed at preventing serious crimes and increasing the sense of safety among citizens.

Over the course of the night, police officers stopped and checked 347 drivers and 103 passengers. In addition, checks were carried out at 30 establishments, resulting in three administrative reports.

Particular attention was paid to road enforcement. In total, police recorded 215 traffic violations and launched five investigations into serious road traffic offenses.

The most common violation once again was speeding — 102 such cases were recorded. In addition, 60 alcohol tests were conducted, resulting in four reports for driving under the influence.

The police said that two drivers tested positive for narcotics in preliminary testing. As part of the checks, six vehicles were confiscated.

Law enforcement authorities stressed that such operations are carried out daily and will continue. An increased police presence, mobile patrols and targeted checks are aimed at preventing crime, ensuring residents' safety and maintaining public order across the country.
